Terms
Terms of use
The plain-language agreement between TechLight and the churches we serve.
Last updated October 1, 2026
Draft, pending legal review. This page describes how TechLight works today in plain language. It will be finalized after review by counsel.
The short version
- Your church owns its information, and you can take it with you.
- Your church decides who uses TechLight and keeps its roster accurate.
- We work hard to keep TechLight secure, available, and helpful.
- Please use TechLight only to care for your church family.
Our agreement
These terms apply when a church uses TechLight.org (“TechLight”). By creating a church account or using TechLight on behalf of a church, you agree to these terms on behalf of that church. If you are a church member responding to a prayer invitation or booking time with your elders, you are using TechLight through your church, and these terms ask nothing of you beyond using it kindly.
Accounts and access
- Churches invite the people who may use TechLight and choose their roles. Please invite only people your church trusts with that access.
- Keep your email account secure, since sign-in links are sent there.
- Remove access promptly when someone leaves a role.
Your church’s information
Your church owns the information it puts into TechLight, including member details, photos, and prayer responses. You give us permission to store and process it only to provide TechLight to your church, as described in our privacy page. You confirm that your church has the right to share this information with us for that purpose.
You can ask us for a copy of your church’s information at any time. If your church closes its account, we will delete its information as described in our privacy page.
Using TechLight well
Please do not use TechLight to:
- send messages that are unwanted, misleading, or unrelated to caring for your church family;
- upload information you do not have the right to share;
- try to access another church’s information or get around TechLight’s security; or
- interfere with TechLight or the services it relies on.
Our commitments
- We will protect your church’s information with care, as described on our security page.
- We will never sell your church’s information or use it for advertising.
- We will tell you promptly if we learn of a security incident affecting your church.
- We will give church admins notice before making meaningful changes to these terms.
Fees
If fees apply to your church, we will agree on them with you in writing before they take effect. We will never charge your church without its agreement.
Availability and changes
We work to keep TechLight available and reliable, but there may be times when it is unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We may improve or change features over time. If we ever plan to discontinue TechLight, we will give churches reasonable notice and time to export their information.
Ending your use
Your church may stop using TechLight at any time. We may suspend or end access if TechLight is being misused or these terms are seriously broken, and where possible we will talk with you first.
Disclaimers and limits
TechLight is a tool to support the ministry of your church. It does not replace pastoral judgment or care. To the extent the law allows, TechLight is provided as is, and our responsibility for any claim related to TechLight is limited. The final wording of this section will be completed during legal review.
Governing law
The governing law for these terms will be confirmed during legal review.
